Our Step By Step Exterior Painting Process

Preparation And Cleaning

Proper prep is key to a durable, professional finish. Before painting, we take care to protect your property and get all surfaces ready.

• Protect driveways, sidewalks, patios, decking and railings with drop cloths or plastic
• Plant and shrubs – we can often gently pull them away from the house. In some cases we may request that they be trimmed back for access.

• Mask or remove hardware, downspouts and fixture – reinstalling them after painting
• Scraping and/or sanding loose or peeling paint down to a sound surface
• Caulk gaps around doors, windows and trim work
• Prime any bare wood or surfaces needing speciality primers

Inspection

We check our work throughout the process and perform a final inspection before completion to ensure every detail meets our standards — and yours.

Clean Up

At the end of each day, we tidy the workspace, remove garbage, and organize tools. At the completion of the work, empty paint cans are taken away for recycling and leftover paint is given to the customer for future touch-ups.

Scheduling Exterior Painting

Unlike interior work, exterior painting is weather dependent and therefore we can’t guarantee exact start or finish dates. However, we never juggle multiple jobs at once. Your project remains our top priority, and if interrupted we return as soon as conditions allow.

Because we’re a small company, we take on a limited number of exterior projects each year to ensure top-quality results. We begin booking in early spring and only accept as many homes as we can confidently complete within the season.

How Homeowners Can Prepare Before The Painters Arrive

You can help us work efficiently by completing a few small tasks before we arrive:

• If we have advised to do so, trim or cut back shrubs touching the house
• Remove decorative items on the house or around the perimeter of it.
• Adjust automatic sprinklers so that they will not interfere with the painting process.
