The owner of this newly purchased house was doing a renovation prior to moving in. The contractor hired us for the painting. The seller had put a coat of a grey paint on the walls to get it ready for sale. It was a silver grey with a cool undertone. The new owner wanted it re-painted in a warmer grey with a bit more depth to it.
We re-painted the baseboards, doors and trim work in a white with a slight yellow undertone. It still appears as white, but has a bit more warmth to it and keeps it from looking too stark.
The new colouring looks fresh and modern and goes well with the wood floors. The house is quite small. It looks more spacious without this dark red feature wall.
The new owner will be hanging a large television over the fireplace. They chose a dark charcoal grey for the front of the fireplace to help the t.v. blend into the wall.
This photo below on the left shows the original cooler grey wall colour (it runs down the hallway). The owner wanted it to be re-painted in a warmer grey. You can see it in the photo on the right. Even though much of the house had just been painted we had to do a lot of preparation work to get the surfaces looking smooth again. The walls, doors and trim work had suffered from years of bad paint jobs and poor attempts of patching.
Since we were going to be doing all the walls, doors and trim work the new owner had do the ceilings as well. If there’s ever a time to have them painted it’s now while the walls are being done and the added bonus of the house being empty. We tinted the ceiling paint to a warm off white colour. The older kitchen is getting a major update with new cupboards, counter tops and back splash, along with our paint job. It looks great.
The pink bedroom was cute for the previous occupant, but was no longer needed by the new owner. It was painted out in the same grey as the rest of the house.
