Step By Step Interior Painting Process

Protection Of Your Home And Belongings

Floors and carpets are covered in drops cloths. Furniture and belongings are protected in plastic along with any other necessary surfaces. Switch plate and outlet covers are removed and hardware or fixtures that can’t be removed are masked off as needed. If doors are being painted, handles and hardware are removed and hinges are taped off.

Working Cleanly And With Consideration

We continuously clean as we work and on larger projects we do an end of day clean up that includes organizing our tools and equipment in a way that provides you some function in your home during the process. We use a certified Hepa filter dust-extraction system for our sanding prep work. This has become a game changer in the trade industry. It keeps the dust out of your home and keeps the air quality safer for us and your household.

Preparation Is Everything

The key to a beautiful paint job starts with the the proper foundation of prep work. We take the extra time to thoroughly inspect walls and address the areas that need extra attention. We patch and sand the dings, nicks and scratches and give the walls an overall sanding to ensure smooth walls by removing small bumps, drips or runs that may be present in the previous coatings. Trim work and doors are sanded and gaps and cracks in moldings, trim work and baseboards are caulked to give a seamless transition between surfaces.

Inspection

We are continually checking our own work as we go and do a full inspection before we consider our job done. Before we leave and request payment we have the customer do a walk through to ensure everything is to their satisfaction.

Final Clean Up

Our professionalism doesn’t end with the painting. One of the most frequent compliments we get is about how tidy we leave the job site. When we leave at the end of the job you should hardly know we were there. If there is any debris it is cleaned, vacuumed or swept up. Garbage is removed and empty paint cans are taken away to be recycled.

What The Customer Can Do Prior To Our Arrival

We will assist with any heavy or large items below if necessary, otherwise we would ask that our customers prepare for our arrival by doing the following:

• Remove pictures and other decorative items from the walls and store them out of the painting area.
• Safely store away delicate or sentimental items out of the painting area.
• Take items off mantels, shelving and counters that are against the walls.
• Remove smaller decorative items and lamps or group them together in a spot that won’t impede with painting.
• Remove the contents from large book cases and display cabinets that need to be moved.
• Depending on the size and layout of the room the large furniture can stay in place or be pushed to the center of the rooms. We’ll inform you how much space we need to paint.
• Unless we’ve specifically said they can stay in place, remove area rugs.
• If closets are being painted remove clothing and all other belongings.
• Take down curtains and store them away or lay them over large furniture. We will take down blinds if they need to come out of the windows.
• Remove bath mats, towels and accessories from bathrooms.
• It’s helpful if the floors are vacuumed or swept prior to our arrival, paying attention to any debris that might be up against the baseboards if they are being painted.
