We repainted the main living space, stairwell, hallway, and entryway for the first time since this home was built over a decade ago. The client was satisfied with using the same colours. However, we made a significant improvement by using a much higher quality paint for the walls, trim work, and doors. We also painted the ceilings.
Although this home is higher-end, it was painted with what is known as “builder-grade” paint. This is commonly used in new construction because it allows for quick application and helps keep costs low. However, the trade-off is that the paint is less durable. It is prone to scuffing and can retain dirt and stains and doesn’t stand up well to washing. Afterwards you’re often left with visible streaks and marks where the paint was wiped.
The client is happy with their refreshed spaces and is grateful to have a paint that is going to stand up better in their family home.
As you can see in the image below there is a great deal of preparation that needs to be done to protect kitchen cabinets, countertops, appliances, lights, flooring, etc. before the ceiling painting takes place.
