This house is only five years old, but unfortunately some new construction homes only receive a quick one coat paint job. If you stand back and look at it from the street it might look okay, but upon closer inspection there are clearly areas that don’t have proper paint coverage. A new owner recently purchased this house and wanted to have it looking better.

We painted the Hardie board siding in the same golden colour. The trim work and fascia boards were originally painted with a white that had strong gray undertone. They looked quite dull. To brighten the trim up and provide more contrast with the body we used a brighter whiter colour. 

The wood trim around the hydro meters, plug-ins and cable panels were originally done in the lighter trim colour as were the thin inner corner trim pieces. There’s no reason to highlight these features of a house. To make them blend in we re-painted them in the same gold colour as the body.

The cedar porch ceilings on the front and the back of the house were originally left as raw wood. We clear coated them to enhance and bring out the beauty of the wood. The decorative wooden beam work in the front gables of the house had faded.  We freshened it up with a coat of the same colour of semi-transparent stain. The new paint has the house looking great and how it should have looked in the first place.

This is a great example of what can be accomplished with a colour change. The original white stucco wasn’t lending anything to the exterior of this home.

There are sections of the house that are two and three storeys tall, the white seemed to make it feel like it was towering over the property. By painting out the body in a warm gray colour it helps to ground the house.

The overhead garage doors are painted in the same warm gray as the stucco. The colour works perfectly with the rock work on the front of the house.

The trim work, deck band, posts and patio doors on the back of the house are painted in a colour that is close to the existing gutters and downspouts.

Now all the elements of the house look like they were meant to work together.

This townhouse was ready for the first re-paint since the original build. The owner expressed that they wanted a new colour scheme that would give more impact. The original siding colour was a muted green and the trim was a light colour with a yellow undertone.

We played around with some different options and came up with a mid-tone gray for the siding. We changed the yellow toned trim to a warm white that would offer a nice contrast against the gray. We were careful not to use too stark of a white. We didn’t want the trim to conflict with the creamy colour of the gutters and downspouts.

To add a strong contrast we painted some of fascia boards and accent areas in a deep charcoal. The front door was painted charcoal as well, but in a satin sheen to make it stand out more. The new look gives the home a great curb appeal and has a modern edge that the client was looking for.

Parts of this home get heavy sun exposure and it’s near the ocean so it is subject to all the elements of the west coast weather. Several areas of the siding had faded over the years and were ready to be refreshed. The owners wanted to have the fresh new look from when they first installed the trim and the hardi-plank siding.

We re-painted the Hardie Board siding in the same dark midnight blue and the trim work and the arbours are a warm cream colour. The lattice fence in behind the large arbour is a mid-grey colour that offers a bit of a contrast. The house looks really sharp now that it’s all completed.

The owners of this house wanted to change the colours to be more cohesive with the darker mahogany stain on the fascia boards, front pillars and deck railings. They chose a darker brown body colour with a green undertone and a earthy green for the trim work, garage doors and patio doors.

When we stood back and looked at the house we were all in agreement that it looked far too busy. There’s a lot of windows and trim work and bars within the windows, the vertical stripes of the board and batten along with many other textures on the house. Your eye jumps all over the place not knowing what to look at.

We came up with a solution to create a calmer effect. There is more than enough trim detail so we painted all of the vertical corners the same as the body so that it visually disappears. It is particularly busy above the upper front balcony. We painted the window trim in the peak above the patio doors in the same colour as the body so that it fades away. Now you only see the contrast of the patio doors and their surrounding trim work.

In the before and after photos below you can see what a remarkable difference the new colour scheme has made. The owners are extremely happy with the new look and we are too!

This newly purchased Hardie Board house was well past the time that it should have been painted. A lot of maintenance had been neglected over the years. We did an extensive amount of scraping loose and flaking paint from the trim work and fascia boards. Without the wood trim having a proper covering of paint to help protect it there were cracks and gaps in many areas that were filled with caulking and wood filler where required.

We worked with the customers to come up with a new colour scheme as they were not at all fond of the current one. They picked a gray with a blue undertone and an ivory colour was chosen for the trim work. A whiter trim would not have worked as well with the almond colour vinyl windows. The grand front door remained dark, but went from dark chocolate brown to a rich charcoal colour. It looks great with the gray body colour.

The difference between the before and after is incredible. The house looks sharp and modern and now has the paint protection it needs for years to come.

We’ve had the privilege of painting this house exterior twice. It wasn’t in need of a full re-painting this time around, but the homeowners decided they were ready for a colour change. It’s such a pleasure to work on this beautiful property. They spend a great deal of time working in their yard to make it an garden oasis.

The house has been deep chocolate and muted green. This time the owners decided to do something completely different. They picked a cheery yellow colour for the siding on the house, garden shed and garage. The trim is a light creamy off-white. The gable accents are a periwinkle colour and to add a real splash of color the doors on the house and the side garage door are a salmon pink. 

The home owner wasn’t afraid to try something different and it turned out great. The craftsman style architecture lends to having the multiple pastel colour scheme on it. It somewhat mimics a heritage home. It’s so charming. Doesn’t that front porch look like the perfect place to sit and relax.

Below are the original builders house colour and the first repaint that we did.

This is an excellent example of the impact a colour change can make. This house has an interesting design and great curb appeal, but the original light peachy beige stucco was a bit lack luster.

When choosing the new colour for the stucco the colour of the gutters, downspouts and the dark shingles on the new roof were taken into consideration. An earthy brown was chosen for the stucco and a blackish/brown for the overhead garage door. The new colours have modernized the house and grounded it with the landscape. The new roof along with some additional landscaping and new paint colour have made for a great transformation of this property.

The owners of this beautiful ocean front property hired us to do a re-paint. The seaside weather can take a toll on a house. We did a great deal of sanding and scraping.

The colour scheme works well with the house so they kept it the same. The wood siding is a mid-tone grey accented with crisp white trim work and doors. We never tired of the incredible views while we were working.

This two story stucco house was ready for a re-paint. The owners didn’t want to change the colour scheme too much. The new main body colour was slightly darker and has less of a peach undertone. The new accent colour was also slightly darker than the original. The first photo below is of the original paint colours.
